How we complete Veneers

Sometimes a small part of the tooth has to be shaped to make room for the porcelain veneer to be fitted, while at other times the whole healthy tooth can be left underneath, and the veneer fixed on top. At our practice we make veneers in 2 different ways.

1. We will send impressions of your teeth to a technician, along with photos and in discussion with us he will create your veneer in his lab. These will then be fitted by us a couple of weeks later at the surgery.

2. We can take a digital scan and create your veneer onsite in a single appointment with our CEREC mill.

The best option for you will depend on the type and number of veneers you may be having fitted, as well as your personal preferences. We will discuss with you what the best option will be for you.

Ceramic veneers case study

In this case the natural teeth were small and worn. This meant we could add ceramic veneers, without having to cut or damage the teeth underneath. The new smile is designed in wax first.

We then try the smile in your mouth, so that you can see and feel the proposed changes. This allows us to alter the sizes and shapes of any teeth, as well as testing how it feels when you talk.

The technician will then copy the smile you are happy with to make the final ceramic restorations.

Tooth veneer FAQs

How long do veneers last?
Veneers will usually last at least 10-years. Often, they will last longer. If your mouth is kept healthy this will increase their longevity and keep them looking great.

Do they fall off?

With the latest materials and techniques to prepare your teeth it is incredibly unusual for veneers to fall off.

Can I change the colour of my teeth with veneers?

Because veneers are placed over the tooth they can change the colour of your teeth, as well as the shape. If it is only the colour of your tooth you want to change, there will be other options too.
